»Take your time.« With this programmatic request, Arvid Boecker encourages visitors to unhurriedly explore the interplay between his sculptural and painted works against the architecture of the Städtische Galerie Neunkirchen. This is not the first time Boecker (b. 1964) has explicitly responded to the architectural context with his work. The severity of his painterly compositions finds a playful counterpart in 25 stools that, when moved around by the viewer, disrupt the prescribed spatial order as scattered color modules. Just as the individual color tone pulses in the rhythm of the painting, the deliberate action taken by the »other player« is set against the overarching fabric of the architecture.
