Elvira Hufschmid’s new video works are concerned with the phenomenon of “Passages” (W. Benjamin). The artist sees these as the formative elements of the experience of reality in people of the 20th and 21st centuries. The passage appears in places like the highway, the shopping center, and television (as an interface in the flow of information). Mobile Distance accompanies the exhibition of the same name in the Stadtgalerie Saarbrücken (Nov. 20, 2004–Jan. 9, 2005).
