European Publishers Award for Photography 2016
Established in 1994, the European Publishers Award for Photography was a major initiative to encourage the publication of contemporary photography. Open to photographers world-wide, the competition was a unique collaboration between five European Publishers – Actes Sud (France), Blume (Spain), Dewi Lewis Publishing (Great Britain), Kehrer Verlag (Germany) and Peliti Associati (Italy). The competition required the submission of a substantial, completed and unpublished photographic book project. The winning project was then published in book form simultaneously by each of the publishers in their own country.
Previous winners have included Bruce Gilden, Simon Norfolk, Jeff Mermelstein, Paolo Pellegrin, Jacob Aue Sobol, Ambroise Tézenas, Klavdij Sluban, Christophe Agou, Davide Monteleone, Alessandro Imbriaco, Alisa Resnik, Kirill Golovchenko, Danila Tkachenko.
For several previous winners the Award book has been their first publication and has proved to be of significant benefit in the development of their careers. Additionally, in recent years the winning photographer has had the opportunity to exhibit their work during the following Rencontres d’Arles.
The Award is currently under review.
A further announcement will be made in Fall 2016.
